Memorial Day Parade

We were invited to come and watch a Memorial Day Parade in Fernsdale, MI.  A friend of a mom of a friend has a house on the parade route so we were told to arrive there before the parade started.  We got there and introduced ourselves to some very nice complete strangers.  They invited us for donuts and coffee and the kids that were already there started playing musical instruments while we waited for the parade to start.  Eventually my friend showed up with her three kids and we had a great time.  I made ham salad and brought some other snacks in case any of us got hungry.  The parade was a very typical small town parade with the town’s governing body in fancy cars, some businesses and a few antique cars.  Then there was a solemn parade of Michigan families who had lost a family member serving our country in the past decade.  At the end was a fire truck and a parade of kids on decorated bicycles.
